Butterflies are a classic galvanizing symbol of migration. Today, as so many people have suffered under the current administration’s cruel immigration policy, it was inspiring to celebrate the beautiful aspects of migration through Barrionuevo’s bold public art project on one of Silver Lake’s historic stairways.

I loved the Monarch-experience! Having the milkweed seeds available for participants to help the Monarch butterfly was wonderful. Having the neighborhood council, talented musicians, and information on native plants made for a complete experience.
